On my return from Cuba, while reflecting on my trip, I remembered the hens and roosters roaming the streets. Originally, I painted them for their colors, their textures, and wild shapes. But after spending more time studying the photos, I started to uncover their deeper meaning. The hen, associated with parental love, made me think of my role in our family as the "mother hen". I often find myself focusing on bringing harmony and happiness to my extended family. The symbol of the rooster can be considered a time keeper, a sign of time passing in our lives. Together these symbols feel especially relevant with the passing of my parents and my new role as the "mother hen" in my family.
